Filming your swing

Face-on (the one you need)

  • Phone upright on a stand, square to your chest, at hand height, about 3 metres away.
  • Whole body in the frame with room above your head for the club; you should fill about two thirds of the height.
  • Keep the phone still: the measurements compare positions between frames.
  • Bright, even light and a plain background help the body tracking.

Down the line (optional)

  • Phone behind you, on the line from the ball through your hands, at hand height, about 3 metres back.
  • Adds swing path (over the top), hand depth and posture. Turn on "Then film down the line" on the record screen, or tap "Add a down-the-line clip" on a result.

Questions

Why is my rating lower than I expected?

TrueTen is strict on purpose: 10 is tour level, 7.5 and up is a sound swing. Every rating shows its margin (the ±), and anything the phone can't measure precisely enough is left out rather than guessed. Three or more swings in one recording give a steadier rating than one. How the rating works explains it in full.

How is the rating worked out?

Each position is scored against a tour band and a wider amateur range, every score allows for its margin of error, and positions the phone can't judge precisely enough are left out. The details, including why only tour-level swings score 10, are on How the rating works.

What does the ± mean?

It's the margin of error of the measurement. A change between two swings only counts as real when it is bigger than both margins combined, which is how the compare view and your checkpoints judge progress.

Can I use a video I already have?

Yes, choose From library. The app checks the clip's framing, angle and frame rate. If it is less precise than a recording made in the app (small in the frame, filmed from an angle, low frame rate), the margins are widened and the result says so.

It says "No complete golf swing" was found.

Start recording a couple of seconds before you set up and stop after you hold your finish, keep your whole body in the frame, and film in good light. Hands-free mode does the starting and stopping for you.

Does it work at the range, at home or in a simulator bay?

Yes. Tell the plan where you practise and what you have (alignment sticks, a mirror, an impact bag) in Practice › plan settings, and it picks drills that work there.

How do I cancel or change my subscription?

On your iPhone: Settings › your name › Subscriptions › TrueTen. In the app, Settings › Manage subscription opens the same screen. Your analyses, plan history and log are kept if Pro ends; the full plan resumes when you subscribe again.

How do I get a refund?

Apple handles all payments and refunds for App Store purchases. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com, signed in with the Apple Account you paid with. From version 1.0.1 you can also start a request in the app: Settings › Request a refund. Apple decides on refunds; we can't issue or see them.

What is the founding price, and when does it end?

Subscribe to TrueTen Pro Annual by 30 Nov 2026 and you keep the founding price of $59.99/year (US) for as long as you stay subscribed. From 1 Dec 2026 the regular price for new subscribers is $79.99/year. Prices in Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand are shown in local currency in the app. If your subscription lapses, Apple lets you resubscribe at the founding price within 60 days.

I changed phones. Where are my swings?

With iCloud sync on (Settings › Your data), your analyses, plan and log come back on any iPhone signed in to the same Apple Account. Videos come back only if "Back up videos too" was on. Pro comes back with Settings › Restore purchases.

Does TrueTen work on iPad?

TrueTen is designed for iPhone and also runs on iPad in iPhone mode. Filming is easiest with an iPhone on a stand.

Is my data shared with anyone?

No. Analysis runs on your iPhone, there's no account, and nothing is collected. See the Privacy Policy.
